Tara Ballard was born and raised in Alaska. For eight years now, she and her husband have lived in the Middle East and West Africa, where they teach English in local area schools and universities.
Winner of the 2016 Many Voices Project competition, her first book, House of the Night Watch, will be published in 2018 with New Rivers Press.
Tara holds an MFA from the University of Alaska, Anchorage. Her poems have been published by, or are forthcoming in, The Bellingham Review; Poetry Northwest; One; Salamander; The Southampton Review; War, Literature and the Arts; and other literary magazines.
