Tara Ballard was born and raised in Alaska. For seven years now, she and her husband have been living in the Middle East and West Africa, teaching English in local area schools and traveling often throughout various countries.
Winner of the 2016 Many Voices Project competition, her first book, House of the Night Watch, will be published in 2018 with New Rivers Press.
Tara holds an MFA from the University of Alaska, Anchorage. She recently served as one of Tupelo Press’ 30/30 Project Poets and as a guest leader for The Missing Slate’s Global Poetry Writing Month. Her poems have been published or recently accepted by Cutthroat: A Journal of the Arts; One; Salamander; The Southampton Review; War, Literature and the Arts; and other literary magazines.
